Local beach
Casal Tiroliro – Indoor Surface Area : 200 m2
Casal Tiroliro is a completely renovated, century old holiday villa just a few minutes from “Praia das Maçãs” beach, Sintra. The views to the rear are of unspoilt pine woods. The house is very comfortable and private and it is perfect for relaxed family holidays.
The main entrance to the house is via a small entrance hall. The kitchen is to the left; a functional space, its focal point being the traditional chimney above the stove withs its original hand painted tiles.
To the left of the kitchen, after crossing the hall, there is a small single bedroom, only available on request or for large parties.
Next we find the spacious living room. This is an ideal family room with seating for up to 8 persons and with a working chimney, perfect for cozy winter nights. The room has a separate dining area that opens outside onto two different terraces; one of the terraces is totally fenced and therefore perfect for children to play while the rest of the family enjoys a relaxed meal.
Just a few steps from the living room you will find 3 bedrooms, all sharing a wide closet in the corridor with plenty of storage space, divided for each bedroom. The bedrooms all have double beds. Two of the bedrooms share a shower room and the third one has its own bathroom.
From the house there is direct access to the pretty private swimming pool. This is a lovely area with an original stone table and garden chairs where guests can sit down and relax sunbathing.
The swimming pool area has its own shower room, WC, and outside shower.
Outside there is a completely renovated annex, only available to bookings of more than 6 people or on request, providing sleeping qaurters to 2 more people. The annex has 1 twin bedroom, its own kitchenette, shower room and living room with two single sofa-beds.
At the back of the house we find the lawned garden, sprinkled with lavender and rosemary bushes. This is an ideal spot for children’s games or simply to relax and read a book. The private fenced 3000m2 wooded gardens of Casal Tiroliro provide hours of fun to children. The garden is surrounded by low level lighting which provide an even more atmospheric feeling to the property

Location
Located by renowned “Praia das Maçãs” beach, the house affords total privacy, and is set in a peaceful pine wood. The area is part of the Sintra-Cascais National Park, where building is restricted and nature protected, with countryside stretching in all directions.
The beach is 10 minutes by foot or 2 minutes by car.
The local village is 1km away with its shops and restaurants.
Sintra, 10km away, is unique and deserves its status as a world heritage site. First the Moors, then the Portuguese kings who expelled them, built their castles and palaces there. Later ages brought rich foreigners who created villas and palaces with lush gardens and romantic architecture – outdone by king Don Fernando, whose bizarre palace anticipated mad King Ludwig’s Rhine castles by several years.
The location is ideal for exploring not just Sintra but central Portugal. Lisbon is 40 minutes by car, and Cascais and Estoril are 30 minutes away. Famous Ericeira beach is close by. Further afield: in easy day trips from Sintra, you can visit the walled city of Obidos, the Knights’ templar castle of Tomar, and Batalha Abbey, the monastery palace of Mafra, the seaside town of Sesimbra, Ericeira, Palmela castle and Arrabida national park.
Gastronomy and wine tasting
Sintra is famed for its ‘queijadas’ and local wines from Colares. Local restaurants are both good and inexpensive. Wineries can be visited in person or as part of an organised tour.
Getting there and around
The villa is reached from Lisbon airport in 40 minutes. It is fairly close to Cascais and Sintra making it a good base to explore the area.
We recommend a car to make the most of exploring the area.
In the summer, the electric tram that goes regularly from Sintra to Praia das Maçãs passes 5 minutes walk from the house, an enjoyable trip.

During peak season: normal turnover day is Saturday and surcharge may apply for rentals of less than 2 weeks.
