Villa Cascais – Surface area: 420m2
The spectacular villa is on two floors, and consists of two units, ‘Villa Monte e Mar’ and ‘Casa dos Meninos’, linked by two separating doors and a staircase. They are combined as one unit to make ‘Villa Cascais’, for parties of up to 18 people.
The architecture is of Mediterranean influence, with the house following the contours of the landscape, curves not cubes, so the whole is at one with its setting. Most rooms connect to the outside.
As the house is set on two spacious floors, there are two living rooms, two kitchens, two private patios and many wonderful relaxing spots with different views. The villa has 7-8 bedrooms in total and can be let to up to 18 people.
Guincho Beach: 3 km away
The main entrance is via a spacious entrance hall, with original pine trunks forming the ceiling. To the right, the main formal living room is found with a lovely encased fireplace providing the focal point, and 3 full length French doors opening to the gardens. A large TV with Satellite SKY channels, DVD player and Stereo is provided for the entertainment of guests. To the left the formal dining area is located; this area, with its own french doors opens out to the terrace and gardens.
Right across the hall to the other side, there is a spacious fully equipped kitchen, with a large table for 8 or more, ideal for less formal meals. Just outside the kitchen, in a covered area, a large table made of one single slab of marble, seats up to 18 people comfortably and is ideal for large reunions. The lovely built-in barbecue is just next to this seating area.
Also accessed from the main hall, we find a large twin bedroom (beds can be joined to form a large double) and its en-suite shower room; this bedroom leads to a smaller sitting-room/bedroom with 2 single sofa-beds and with direct access to the gardens and fabulous views.
To the left of the main hall, we find a lovely indoor garden with a round skylight. Further on we access another twin bedroom with a large built-in desk, which means this can double up as a very spacious study room.
Further along, past a separating door, we find to the left a pleasant double bedroom, and next to it a spacious shower room with an original skylight over the shower!
The main double bedroom is to the right of this corridor. It is a spacious bright room with private French doors to its section of the garden, plenty of built-in storage space and a large bathroom with two sinks, jacuzzi bath, separate shower, toilet and bidet. Beds in this room can be configured as double beds, or 4 singles.
Down steps from the hall, a separate living room with kitchenette, 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms are located. This area has a large sitting space with 2 single sofa-beds, fully equipped kitchenette and sliding doors to the garden. There 3 spacious bedrooms leading off from the living room: 2 twin bedrooms and 1 double bedroom. The double bedroom has a small en-suite bathroom and direct access to outside. The other spacious bathroom on this floor has a lovely hand painted tile panel over the bath.
What makes this villa extra special is of course the large 5000m2 garden with is separate vegetable patch. Although part of the garden and the swimming pool are shared with the guests of the lower cottage 100m away, a large 1000m2 section of the garden is reserved to the exclusive use of the Villa guests. In this private section the sauna house is found.
With a large swimming pool, beautiful grounds in a 5000m2 private estate, close to the beach and the many attractions of Cascais, Lisbon and Sintra, this property offers an ideal setting for a perfect holiday. Here you find peace and privacy amongst the beauty and tranquillity of nature, but with all you might want close by. The large, covered pool means the water is warm enough for you to swim from April to November; sliding doors allow you to catch a cooling breeze in the hot summer months. The extensive gardens and outdoor games area can be enjoyed all year round – as can the sauna and massages (supplement charged).
For larger parties of up to 30 people, Casa Grande in the same grounds can also be rented.

Location
The house is ideally situated in a rural setting, at the foot of the Sintra hills, 3km from beautiful Guincho beach and 6km from cosmopolitan Cascais and Estoril. This is an ideal location for nature lovers, being in the Sintra-Cascais protected National Park where building is very restricted. There is good walking, with an abundance of wild flowers, birds and animals. Yet the motorway is only 4km away, making Lisbon, Cascais and Sintra accessible in under 30 minutes.
The restful view looks down a green and unspoilt valley with the sea in the far distance in one direction, and the mystical Sintra mountains in the other.
The village of Malveira da Serra is less than five minutes walk away, with a range of shops and restaurants. The village retains its traditional charm as building is restricted, and has long been sought after due to the beauty of its setting, with the coast stretched out below, and the forest and mountain above.
Sintra, a world heritage site with its castle, palaces and gardens set in lush vegetation and enjoying ravishing views is a lovely 15 minute car drive across the mountain.
Less far in the other direction is the coastal resort of Cascais, where you will find superb beaches, restaurants, night-life and shopping, as well as a charming old town with rewarding site-seeing.
Lisbon is half an hour away, and with easy access to the motorway system a number of other world class cultural and historic sites make an enjoyable day trip. Lisbon boasts world heritage sites, and a rich cultural, culinary and night life.
Locally, there is a huge choice of the latest films in original language with over twenty screens in four local cinema complexes reachable within 10 minutes, as are two attractive shopping centres. The summer brings international festivals; classical music and ballet in Sintra, jazz in Estoril and fireworks in Cascais.
Beaches
Guincho beach, world renowned for its beauty and surfing, is three kilometres away. Many other sandy beaches are close by, each with its individual character. Less than half an hour’s drive North along the coast several beaches are well worth exploring, as are some excellent fish restaurants.
Golf
Six of Portugal’s best golf courses are within a 15 minute drive, offering new and surprising landscapes, along with first class services and facilities. Portugal is a golfer’s paradise where it is possible to play almost every day of the year, with plenty to offer both beginners and advanced players.
Getting there and around
Less than two hours flight from most European cities and seven hours from New York, the house can be reached by car or taxi from Lisbon Airport in 30-40 minutes.
Located in the protected national park of Cascais-Sintra, the property is only 4km from the motorway and so half an hour from Lisbon and its cultural attactions and night life. Taxis are available and cheap, and there is an efficient bus system from the village to Cascais and Sintra; but to get the best out of your holiday we advise car hire, as there is so much to see which is not accessible by public transport.

During peak season: normal turnover day is Saturday and surcharge may apply for rentals of less than 2 weeks.
