ArteMar Estoril 2012 – May 12 to June 13
More than a dozen sculptures competing for the 2012 edition of Estoril ArteMar will be on display along the Estoril Coast seaside promenade.
This outdoor sculpture competition aims to distinguish works of high aesthetic quality and strong ecological message, made with materials found on the seaside or in which this element is symbolically represented.
One such example is the work of Denmark’s Peter Gilbert (pictured), which represents the iconic “Perna de Pau” ice lolly, built with Styrofoam that reminds us of icecream vendor coolboxes, whilst the “chocolate” is made of oxidized sheet steel in an allusion to a ship’s hull.
From May 12 to June 13, along the Estoril Coast seaside promenade.
