Set in the environment of a small hamlet called Azoia, this villa is located only 45 minutes away from Lisbon, between Cascais and Sintra. It is ideal for nature and sea lovers as it is surrounded by the Natural Park of Sintra/Cascais, offering views of the Atlantic ocean and Sintra hills. The villa is mainly built of concrete and wood, which turns it into an intimate and cosy house. Two well-known Portuguese architects built this project – Ricardo Bak Gordon and Carlos Vilela Lúcio. There is also a design glass cabinet in the dining room made by a famous Portuguese artist, Álvaro Siza Vieira. Guests will find other retro details throughout the villa, which reminds the uniqueness of the vibrant city of Berlin, as the owners are originally from there.

The perfect self-catering villa is ideally placed for surfers, close to many surf spots and places to explore and relax. Two hundred meters from the villa is the pleasant village of Azoia, where guests will find restaurants and a trendy bar/restaurant called “Moinho Dom Quixote”, which is a secret amongst locals.

The villa is entered at ground level, the entrance hall leading to the living areas. The modern living room opens onto a dining room, and boasts stunning views of the ocean and the green surroundings of the Natural Park of Sintra/Cascais Park. The dining room is located next to the fully equipped kitchen, and seats comfortably 12 people. Outside, there is a dining table and chill out area, perfect for barbecues.

In a separate wing of the ground floor, two en-suite double bedrooms and an office are located. One of the bedrooms is connected to the office through a door and has a large double bed and amazing views of “Cabo da Roca”. The other bedroom has a double bed and views to the garden.

Downstairs, a huge cinema room faces both pools – an indoor pool and the outdoor swimming pool surrounded by flowers and well kept lawns.This floor is also occupied by three bedrooms. Two single and one double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.

For additional fun, the indoor pool has swim jets, which is perfect to exercise and improve paddle skills.

Location
Perched on the foothills of Sintra’s UNESCO World National Park, Azoia Design Villa is located in Azoia, a small village between the declared World Heritage village of Sintra and the chic yet disarmingly charming town of Cascais. Regardless of its new modern edge, Cascais maintains the tradition of a fishing village where you can find beautiful shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife.

The house enjoys an exceptional location close to Lisbon and the wonderful beaches of the Estoril and Cascais coast. You’ll find the most well known one, Guincho beach where yearly windsurfing and surfing championships take place, 10 minutes away by car. “Cabo da Roca” is 5 minutes away by car and it is breath taking view point. The extensive white sand expanses, the untouched dunes and the rocky and wild landscape of Guincho beach makes it a unique place to visit and enjoy. One of the largest casinos of Europe is located in nearby Estoril coast town, with its gaming rooms, bars, restaurants and evening shows.

Along the coast, 20 minutes away, you will find several seafood restaurants with magnificent sea views where you can taste the best fish and delight with the freshness of a daily catch. Many gourmet restaurants are found, a few with Michelin stars.

Golf players will find the 36-hole golf course of Quinta da Marinha, 20 minutes car distance from the villa and four others nearby in Estoril and Cascais area. Tennis, horse riding and sailing are also close by.

You will find plenty nightlife entertainment such as discos, bars, and restaurants a 20 minutes car distance from the house in Sintra, Cascais and Estoril and at a 30 minutes distance to Lisbon.

Nearby you will find the pitoresque and unique village of Malveira da Serra, which retains its traditional charm as building is restricted, and has long been sought after due to the beauty of its setting, with the coast stretched out below, and the forest and mountain above.

Sintra, a world heritage site with its castle, palaces and gardens set in lush vegetation and enjoying ravishing views is a lovely 15 minute car drive across the mountain.
Locally, there is a huge choice of the latest films in original language with over twenty screens in four local cinema complexes reachable within 15 minutes, as are two attractive shopping centres. The summer brings international festivals; classical music and ballet in Sintra, jazz in Estoril and fireworks in Cascais.

Guincho beach scenery

Closer in the other direction is the coastal resort of Cascais, where you will find superb beaches, restaurants, night-life and shopping, as well as a charming old town with rewarding site-seeing. Regardless of it’s new modern edge, nearby Cascais maintains the tradition of a fishing village where you can find beautiful shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife.
Lisbon is half an hour away, and with easy access to the motorway system a number of other world class cultural and historic sites make an enjoyable day trip. Lisbon boasts world heritage sites, and a rich cultural, culinary and night life.

Beaches
Many other sandy beaches are close by, each with its individual character. Less than half an hour’s drive North along the coast several beaches are well worth exploring, as are some excellent fish restaurants.

Surfing
The Cascais Coastline is blessed all year round with generous swells coming through from the Atlantic Ocean. Surfers may choose from dozens of different breaks, from fast and hollow beach breaks to lazy or rippable point breaks. 10 minutes distance to the villa by car, the 1km long Guincho beach offers 4 to 5 different sand bar breaks, each with its character. “Praia Grande” is also a sand bar break and it is only 7km away from the villa.

Golf

Portugal is a golfer’s paradise where it is possible to play almost every day of the year, with plenty to offer both beginners and advanced players.

Weather
Portugal is a year round destination. Hot and sunny in the summer, with a refreshing breeze off the sea; windier months are July and August; Spring and Autumn are mild, ideal for sightseeing. Rainy days can occur in winter, but it is rarely cold.

Getting there and around
Less than two hours flight from most European cities and seven hours from New York, the villa can be reached by car or taxi from Lisbon Airport in 30-40 minutes.

Located in the protected national park of Cascais-Sintra, the property is only 10km from the motorway and so half an hour from Lisbon and its cultural attractions and night life. Taxis are available and cheap, and there is an efficient bus system from the village to Cascais and Sintra; but to get the best out of your holiday we advise car hire, as there is so much to see which is not accessible by public transport.

Prices are quoted for 10 people. Add €100 per additional child up to the maximum of 12 people (10 adults and 2 children). 
During peak season: normal turnover day is Saturday and surcharge may apply for rentals of less than 2 weeks.
Booking conditions: 20% minimum paid at time of booking and balance 2 months before arrival.
Security Deposit: €1500 refundable at end of stay.
Prices do not include Tourist Tax charged by Sintra Municipality.
