Modern house with a fantastic contemporary interior, Casal de Alcube is situated in a green and shady opening with no neighbouring houses visible, and has a well kept private landscaped garden of 6 hectares. The furnishings of the house are new and the house is comfortable and welcoming, decorated in neutral colours.

On the entrance floor we find the main bedroom, with a queen size bed, a living room, an en-suit bathroom and separate dressing area. On this floor we also have the living and dining rooms, both equipped with air conditioning and central heating, one half-bathroom and the kitchen. The living room also includes a fireplace. On the lower floor there’s a living room, a suite with a queen size double bed, 2 large bedrooms with 2 single beds each and a bathroom. The upper floor of the villa is divided in 2 very spacious bedrooms with 2 single beds each and a full bathroom.

The private landscaped garden is about 6 hectares. The swimming pool is surrounded by vegetation. The whole estate has 6 hectares, which exudes a feeling of freedom and a connection with nature.

Location
The Casal de Alcube estate is located in the Parque Nacional da Serra da Arrabida, 10 Km away from beautiful beaches and close to Vila Nogueira de Azeitao – a small historic town surrounded by the national park and well known for its vineyards and wine cellars open to the public. Arrabida beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, and boasts a natural bay with calm waters, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The area is also famous for its food so it won’t be difficult to find well priced local restaurants as well as top quality ones. Taste the delights of the region from the traditional cheese, deemed to be some of the best in the country, to the Torta de Azeitão, a much sought after local pastry, and the famous Moscatel wine, a sweet wine served as an aperitif. The local specialty is of course a great variety of fresh fish dishes.

As well as Lisbon, which is only 40km away, Azeitão, Setubal, Palmela and Sesimbra are easily reached, making this self-catering villa an ideal base for unforgettable daily excursions.

This luxurious self-catering villa is situated in the national park of Arrabida, established to protect the beautiful landscape and rich variety of wild life, including eagles, wildcats and badgers.

The surrounding mountains are the perfect place to go for a walk, and excursions can be organised with the local nature tour companies.

The villa is nearby to the small delightful historic town of Vila Nogueira de Azeitao, which is known for its vineyards and wine cellars; the town is a perfect place to try out the local cuisine and get shopping.

Sesimbra, a short drive away, is a quaint fishing town, famous for its castle, beach and beautiful sea front. Palmela has a towering very well preserved castle. Setubal has excellent fish restaurants by the sea front and a ferry to the nearby resort of Troia. Boat trips are organized to watch the dolphins living in the Sado estuary.

The local white sandy beaches are as close as 10 Km and Arrábida beach is known to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal. With its calm waters, it’s ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
The villa is heated in winter and the beautiful fireplace provides additional comfort and atmosphere.

Beaches
The villa is surrounded by many sandy beaches, all with different characteristics. The magnificent bay of Portinho de Arrabida, with its clear quiet waters, is ideal for watersports. Sesimbra, Caparica, Meco and Troia beaches are all easily accessible.

Golf Information
Quinta do Peru just 10 Kms from the villa, Tróia (10 kms and a ferry away) a difficult course but one of the most beautiful in Portugal, and Riba Golf (50 Kms away)

Gastronomy and wine tasting
The region of Azeitão is famed for its gastronomy, and even the local supermarket, Intermarché, has a mix of gourmet and standard products; the supermarket is about 5km from the villa. The local gastronomic festival is held from June to September. Whilst fresh grilled fish can be easily found all year round and is an inexpensive delight. Five formal wine routes have been devised in the Setúbal peninsula by the ‘Rota de Vinhos’ association, combining wine tasting with sightseeing, arts and nature. The villa is ideally situated to take best advantage of these delights of the area – this is if you manage to leave it!

Getting there and around
Two hours flight from most European cities and seven from New York, the villa is reached by car from Lisbon Airport in 45 minutes. Faro airport is 2 hours away. The motorway junction is 6km away.

The local pretty village of Vila Nogueira de Azeitão is 2km away and has shops and supermarkets (even a “intermarché”) for your daily requirements. There is a tourist bureau here and many points of interest.
A car is essential for this holiday as there is no public transport to the Villa.

Prices are quoted for up to 8 people. Add €400/week per additional room for 2 guests, or €200/ week per additional guest. Maximum 12 people.
During peak season: normal turnover day is Saturday and surcharge may apply for rentals of less than 2 weeks.
Booking conditions: 20% minimum paid at time of booking, further 40% 2 months before arrival, and balance on arrival in cash.
Security Deposit: €500, refundable at end of stay.
