Set in the privileged environment of Malveira da Serra, just outside the hip town of Cascais, Villa Malveira is a modern Portuguese country house and private holiday estate, designed with flair to meet the highest standards in comfort. With the spectacular Atlantic Ocean close by, this beautiful holiday estate has featured in home decoration magazines, for the trendy country chic style of its interiors, relaxed atmosphere of understated luxury, and the original design of the pool and the gardens.

The cosy living room flows onto the lush gardens via large french doors, which open onto a relaxed lounging area under a porch, boasting views of the beautiful countryside with the sea in the distance. This is the ideal setting for a night cap or al fresco meals, admiring the beautiful panorama. Next to the living room, is a formal dining room and the fully equipped kitchen, which has a separate breakfast area, and a guest toilet room.

The master suite is located on the first floor, and has a double bed, a separate living area and en-suite bathroom. This bedroom boasts sea views. The other three bedrooms are located on the ground floor: the first bedroom has a double bed, the second bedroom has two single beds that can be arranged as a double bed, and the third has four single beds, one of which is a pull-out bed. All four bedrooms have en-suite bathroom, and large custom cupboards, designed by a local artist to contribute to the country chic and rustic environment.

Outside, the vast lush gardens flourish in sloped terraces, facing the afternoon sunshine and the Atlantic Ocean. Walls and a pine forest secure the estate and ensure privacy to its guests. The pine forest area of the garden has a lovely children pay area. The centrefold is the large private swimming pool, which has the shape of an exotic lagoon, and an infinity edge. The swimming pool is next to a lounging area, the perfect sun trap.

Location
Perched on the foothills of Sintra’s UNESCO World National Park, Villa Malveira is located in Malveira da Serra, a quaint village between the declared World Heritage village of Sintra and the chic yet disarmingly charming town of Cascais. Regardless of its new modern edge, Cascais maintains the tradition of a fishing village where you can find beautiful shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife.

The house enjoys an exceptional location close to Lisbon and the wonderful beaches of the Estoril and Cascais coast. You’ll find the most well known one, Guincho beach where yearly windsurfing and surfing championships take place, and is only 4km from the villa. The extensive white sand expanses, the untouched dunes and the rocky and wild landscape of Guincho beach makes it a unique place to visit and enjoy. One of the largest casinos of Europe is located in nearby Estoril coast town, with its gaming rooms, bars, restaurants and evening shows.

Along the coast at 10 minutes away, you will find several seafood restaurants with magnificent sea views where you can taste the best fish and delight with the freshness of a daily catch. Many gourmet restaurants are found, a few with Michelin stars.

Golf players will find the 18-hole golf course of Penha Longa ten minutes car drive from the house and four others nearby in Estoril and Cascais area. Tennis, horse riding and sailing are also close by.

You will find plenty nightlife entertainment such as discos, bars, and restaurants a 10 minutes car distance from the house in Sintra, Cascais and Estoril and at a 20 minutes distance to Lisbon.

Villa Malveira is nestled above the pretty village of Malveira da Serra, with a range of shops and restaurants. The village retains its traditional charm as building is restricted, and has long been sought after due to the beauty of its setting, with the coast stretched out below, and the forest and mountain above.

Sintra, a world heritage site with its castle, palaces and gardens set in lush vegetation and enjoying ravishing views is a lovely 15 minute car drive across the mountain.
Locally, there is a huge choice of the latest films in original language with over twenty screens in four local cinema complexes reachable within 10 minutes, as are two attractive shopping centres. The summer brings international festivals; classical music and ballet in Sintra, jazz in Estoril and fireworks in Cascais.

Closer in the other direction is the coastal resort of Cascais, where you will find superb beaches, restaurants, night-life and shopping, as well as a charming old town with rewarding site-seeing. Regardless of it’s new modern edge, nearby Cascais maintains the tradition of a fishing village where you can find beautiful shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife.
Lisbon is half an hour away, and with easy access to the motorway system a number of other world class cultural and historic sites make an enjoyable day trip. Lisbon boasts world heritage sites, and a rich cultural, culinary and night life.

Beaches
Guincho beach, world renowned for its beauty and surfing, is 4km away. Many other sandy beaches are close by, each with its individual character. Less than half an hour’s drive North along the coast several beaches are well worth exploring, as are some excellent fish restaurants.

Golf
Six of Portugal’s best golf courses are within a 15 minute drive, offering new and surprising landscapes, along with first class services and facilities. Portugal is a golfer’s paradise where it is possible to play almost every day of the year, with plenty to offer both beginners and advanced players.

Weather
Portugal is a year round destination. Hot and sunny in the summer, with a refreshing breeze off the sea; windier months are July and August; Spring and Autumn are mild, ideal for sightseeing. Rainy days can occur in winter, but it is rarely cold.

Getting there and around
Less than two hours flight from most European cities and seven hours from New York, the house can be reached by car or taxi from Lisbon Airport in 30-40 minutes.

Located in the protected national park of Cascais-Sintra, the property is only 4km from the motorway and so half an hour from Lisbon and its cultural attractions and night life. Taxis are available and cheap, and there is an efficient bus system from the village to Cascais and Sintra; but to get the best out of your holiday we advise car hire, as there is so much to see which is not accessible by public transport.

Prices are quoted for up to 8 people. Add €100/week per additional person.

During peak season: normal turnover day is Saturday and surcharge may apply for rentals of less than 2 weeks.
Booking conditions: 20% minimum paid at time of booking and the final balance on arrival in cash.
Security Deposit: €500, refundable at end of stay.
