This enchanting, self-catering villa is set in a 16 hectares estate and blends into this beautiful protected area where building is very restricted. It is the last house before Cape Espichel, and privacy is guaranteed by its location and extensive garden. The house is 500m from the sea, which you can see and smell everywhere.

Casa da Noni is located about 6 km from the well known fishermen’s town of Sesimbra; it is an excellent choice for lovers of nature, the countryside and the sea.

Although the house and its land are private and isolated, all the amenities of the local village of Azoia with its shops and restaurants are only 1km away.
The house is all on one floor, entered via a beautiful courtyard with magnificent bougainvillea either side. The living room is bright and spacious, with amazing sea views, decorated in a tasteful traditional style with interesting rural antique pieces. There is a vast seating area for 12 around an inviting fire place. One whole side of the living room fully opens onto the front terrace which becomes its extension. The design gives a perfect feeling of indoor/outdoor living, with the sea always in the background.

The living room connects to the open kitchen area which seats 8 comfortably for cosy breakfasts and meals. The kitchen is fully equipped and even has a traditional wood oven for home cooked bread, pizza, roasts or other dishes. The kitchen has a vaulted ceiling, typical of local country architecture of days gone by. The larger table for 12 can be used inside, or outside for “al fresco” meals. The villa also provides a large barbecue. It has an extensive biological vegetable garden at the back; help yourself to delicious fresh fruit and vegetables or ask Mr. Antonio to pick them for you.

To the left of the living room, quite separate along a corridor, the main bedroom suite can be found, also with its vaulted ceiling. The bedroom has its own large bathroom and opens onto a private patio with sea views.

To the right of the living room, the two other bedrooms and bathroom can be found, also spacious with plenty of storage space.

The terrace and patio are ideal spots for lazy afternoons, where you can read or contemplate the panorama on a hammock, rocked by the refreshing sea breeze. The swimming pool is completely private as the closest neighbours are quite a way away. By the pool there is a little pool house with sunbeds, sunshades and other useful equipment inside.

There is safe, shaded, parking for 2 cars in the 16 hectare property, which is fully fenced. There is plenty more parking around the house.

Location
The property is located in the Natural Park of Arrábida, a paradise of mediterranean vegetation near the Atlantic Ocean. With pleasant weather all year round, this region is well known to lovers of nature and peaceful holidays. The special microclimate encourages diverse and rare species of fauna and flora.

History and the passing of time left a remarkable trail of medieval castles, renaissance palaces, splendid manors, churches, chapels, convents and sanctuaries. The massive castles of Sesimbra, Palmela and Setúbal were, in the middle ages, part of the defence line of the Setúbal peninsula, and are well worth a visit. Rising isolated in the middle of cape Espichel, the monumental pilgrimage sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Cabo which was built in the 17th century and is classified as a national heritage site.

All the area is protected, much of it quite wild and beautifully preserved.

You can walk from the bottom of the garden of the villa through a gate and reach the sandy beach “Praia da Foz”, a 50 minute (3km) stroll through unspoilt scenery; or you can drive and be there in 5/10 minutes!

A few km further is the long sandy beach of Praia do Meco, which stretches out for almost 5km against a backdrop of wooded cliffs. Enjoy a fish meal or relax with a drink and enjoy the sunset and the magnificent spectacle of the sea.

The house is set in a garden of 16 hectares. Its spectacular views of the coast are everchanging with the light. Nature surrounds you and the delicious aromas of wild herbs. Wonderful walks can be taken along the sea shore.
Pick the wild herbs for their aromas and delicious flavours to inspire your meals. Help yourself to the fresh strawberries, other fruit and vegetables from the villa’s extensive biological garden, or ask Mr Antonio the property keeper to pick them for you. Mr Antonio lives in the village and is there to help but only speaks Portuguese!

Praia da Foz

Beaches
“Praia da Foz” is only 3km away; it is a beautiful unspoilt beach with fine sand, surrounded by cliffs with a vast rocky platform used by fishermen. Further away, you can find the beach “Praia das Bicas” which is popular for surfing, and “Praia Rio da Prata”. To the north you’ll discover the largest and main beach, “Praia do Meco”, with three miles of white sand and beautiful cliffs. Part of the beach is given over to naturism. Praia do Meco is so long that if you walk long enough you will always find an uncrowded spot.
Sesimbra beach is also a short drive away and is very popular, with its famous castle and fortification towering over it. At the foot of the Arrábida mountains you can find various beaches of crystalline water backed by green hills – mostly small coves, with its fine white sand, tranquil waters and special microclimate.

Water sports
Surfing is popular at “Praia das Bicas” close by. Sesimbra is the perfect base for a variety of nautical sports. Sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and rowing can all be practiced in the safe bay. For diving, Portinho de Arrabida beach has of the most interesting diving in Portugal with its grottos and abundant marine life.

Gastronomy and wine tasting
In a country that has such an extensive coastline, it is not surprising that the sea should be one of the main sources of its cuisine. In the many restaurants of Meco, Sesimbra or Setubal, you can find all sorts of the most fresh and delicious grilled fish and also the best seafood, such as clams, mussels or shrimps.
Portugal’s climate and soil, its excellent varieties of traditional grapes and the wisdom and long experience of its vine-growers have all helped to make Portuguese wines amongst the most appreciated in the world. The region of Setúbal, which has given its name to a sweet fortified wine, made from muscadet grape, also produces robust reds and light white wines.

Arrabida National Park
The mountains are ideal for walks, and organized excursions can be arranged with the local nature tour companies. In the National Park, mountain biking, fauna tours, and bird watching are organised. Orienteering, cycling tours, riding and aerial sports are available and provide new experiences for beginners and experienced alike. From Sesimbra, rappel, 4×4 and a dinosaur footprint trail excursion are easily organized. In Praia do Meco, memorable riding excursions along the coast can be arranged, with breathtaking scenery.

Golf Information
Portugal is a paradise where the golfer can play almost every day of the year. Quinta do Peru Golf is a short drive away and other courses are nearby.

Getting there and around
Two hours flight from most European cities and 7 hours from New York, the villa is reached by car from Lisbon Airport in 1 hour. Faro airport is 2.5 hours.
Apart from Lisbon, 40km away, Azeitão, Setubal, Palmela and Sesimbra are easily reached, making the self-catering villa an ideal base for unforgettable daily excursions.
The local village of Azoia is 1km away for your daily necessities and local restaurants. The local supermarket is 2km away.
A car is essential for this holiday as there is no public transport

Prices are quoted for up to 6 people. Maximum 7 people.
During peak season: normal turnover day is Saturday and surcharge may apply for rentals of less than 2 weeks.
Booking conditions: 20% minimum paid at time of booking and balance 2 months before arrival.
Security Deposit: €500, refundable at end of stay.
