Located in Lisbon’s historic centre, between Chiado, Princípe Real and São Bento areas, Santa Catarina was an exclusive quarter where some of Lisbon’s most important families’ palaces were to be found. One of these palaces, built by the Count of Mesquitela in the 17th century, was fully reconverted into a luxury gated condominium, in one of the most successful projects in the recent years. The stunning facades, the coat of arms, the main gate, the private gardens and the chapel have all been carefully preserved and restored to be included in the master plan, in order to respect the palace’s status as a landmark of the city.

Within the neighbourhood, guests will find hip shops and restaurants, the unique Santa Catarina Belvedere overlooking the Tagus River, and distinct buildings and palaces.

The apartment is located on the first floor, and can be accessed via the quiet condominium gardens, or via lift from the garage. One parking place in the underground condominium garage is included in the rental).

Location

Located in Santa Catarina, a quiet residential quarter attached to trendy Principe Real and emblematic Chiado, the apartment affords many delights within walking distance. It is an ideal base from which to soak up Lisbon’s culture and explore. The main entrance to the condominium is located at Calçada do Combro street, which connects to Chiado and Camões squares on one direction (300 metres); and to São Bento in the other direction (500 metres). Principe Real is Lisbon’s foremost “hip” area and is home to many trendy restaurants, shops and bars.

Getting there and around

Famous nº28 tramline stops near the apartment, and connects St. George’s Castle to Campo de Ourique quarter. Apart from the pleasant ride, tramline nº28 connects to several sightseeing spots in Lisbon.
Means of transport for excursions further afield abound: the metro stop is close by is an efficient network of buses. Trips to Cascais, Sintra, the lovely sandy beaches and golf are easily organized.

Cais do Sodré is a short walk from the apartment where besides the trendy nightlife you have a direct train to Estoril and Cascais which takes about 30 minutes.

Public transportation and 24hour taxi stands are 2 minutes away of doorstep. Supermarkets, bakeries and shops are all within a few minutes walk. A 5 minute walk takes you to the Metro station of Baixa – Chiado. Bairro Alto, one of the most typical areas of Lisbon, with its many restaurants, bars and hip shops, is just around the corner.
