Monte Vale São Mamede – Surface area : 250m2
This villa is the perfect rural getaway. The 9-hectare property is extremely well cared for both inside and outside. It has 3 bedrooms, including one suite. It has two fully equipped kitchens, one outdoor and one indoor, a large living room with 2 sofa beds and a dining table for 8-10 people.
There are 2 outdoor dining areas with shade and terrace and support from the outside kitchen.
Wi-Fi, TV with series and movies channels.
The 1000m2 outside area is covered with grass, trees, and a threshing floor recovered from the 19th century. The huge pine trees provide plenty of shade while a refreshing stream passes through the grounds.
The rural water tank has been converted for bathing and measures 5 by 3m, with a depth of 1.5m.

Location
This rural villa is located high in the Serra de São Mamede. The mountainous area differs from the usual dry lowlands of the Alentejo. Leafy and green, the surrounding area is replete with human settlements from various historical periods. At 1025m, the Serra de Sao Mamede is the highest point south of the Tagus. It’s peak offers an exceptional view over the surrounding area.
The mountain acts as a condensation barrier, creating a natural microclimate with higher levels of precipitation and humidity. The vegetation is consequently rich and varied. The north is covered in oak and chestnut trees, while in the south, the forest is made up of holm and pure oak trees.
The fauna of the Serra de São Mamede are equally interesting. Rare birds of prey such as the griffin, the kite and the Bonelli’s eagle can be spotted circling in the sky. You may even be able to see wild boar and deer, which following conservation efforts, are returning to their natural habitats. The protected park can be discovered by taking one of five walking routes.
Equally unmissable are the regional specialities such as lamb stew and roasted kid, and sweet treats such as bolemia and sericaia with plums. From Elvas, be sure to visit the cosmopolitan city of Badajoz for tourism and cross-border shopping.
From the house, the nearest grocery store, bakery and restaurant are 1.5km away, the cheery 4km, Spain is 8km and the supermarket 10km.
This is the perfect place for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat; from nature lovers to stressed executives, the Alentejo offers a serene atmosphere for a well deserved break.
Towns near the Villa
If you’re interested in archaeological heritage, make sure to visit the medieval towns of Castelo de Vide, Alegrete and Marvão or the city of Portalegre (30km away), the regional capital, that has many manor houses and convents which give it an aristocratic feel, and is also the headquarters of the Manufactura das Tapeçarias company, where many genuine works of tapestry art are produced.
The border with Spain is 2km away and the town of Badajoz is 1 hour away by motorway. The other side of the border Caceres and Seville are an easy day trip.

Activities
Horse riding, shooting, trekking, bird watching, wine tasting, special guided tours and other activities can be organized for our guests. Short rides in hot water balloons in Portugal began in the Alentejo: it is an ideal region for this due to the vast plains that are suitable for take off and landing. Watching the sun rise amongst the mountains of the Alentejo whilst being lifted into the air in a wicker basket is an unforgettable experience. Getting there and around
Two hours flight from most European cities and seven from New York, the beautiful holiday villa is reached by car from Lisbon Airport in 2 hours and 30 minutes.
A car is essential for this holiday as there is no public transport to the house.
The village of Arronches is 9 km away and offers small restaurantes and some markets. Further afield, the town of Portalegre is 30km away and offers more serious entertainment: restaurants, shops, supermarkets and another facilities. Lisbon, with its culture and monuments, is 2.5 hours away.
The border with Spain is 2km away and the town of Badajoz is 1 hour away by motorway, with all facilities: restaurants, shops and more entertainment. Caceres and Seville are an easy day trip.

All the people we came across were always helpful and friendly. Casa de campo acolhedora num sitio calmo Adorámos... uma vez mais a estadia. A estadia foi simplesmente espetacular.
The tranquility of the place and the friendliness and availability of Maria João. Very comfortable beds. Great space for children and pets.
The week we went it was a little too hot but bearable thanks to the pool and the a/c.
É o segundo ano que optamos por este alojamento e a expectativa seria encontrar pelo menos o que havíamos tido no ano anterior.
Expectativas amplamente superadas, o alojamento sofreu alterações de melhoramento que se traduziram num alojamento top. A casa é super prática e confortável, a churrasqueira e espaços de refeições ótimos e a piscina e toda a sua área de banhos e sol convida ao descanso ou a jogos em família. A zona onde o espaço está inserido dispensa apresentações, o ideal para quem quer apenas respirar fundo e retemperar energias mas se a ideia é partir à aventura, do melhor que conheço para corrida/trail e passeios aquáticos pelas cascatas e ribeiros. A Dona Maria João continua a maravilhar com o seu cuidado e disponibilidade, sempre pronta para ajudar e os miminhos por parte do Dono - Pedro Parras continuam a surpreender.
O alojamento é incrível, com todas as comodidades disponíveis para que a Família se sinta de férias mas em “casa”. Desde os miúdos aos graúdos ,sem dúvida a repetir para o ano. Além do espaço incrivel , toda a envolvente é maravilhosa , para quem procura campo, com muitas caminhadas e corridas em Trail foi o paraíso . Conhecemos 3 das 4 cascatas , portanto para o ano iremos descobrir a 4. Quanto à D. Maria João , 5 estrelas , sem comentários o seu profissionalismo e boa disposição .
Miminhos à chegada por parte do Dono , Pedro Parras foram sem dúvida a cereja no topo do bolo. Avaliação geral - 5 estrelas - Espetacular.
