Casal Tiroliro is a completely renovated, century old holiday villa just a few minutes from “Praia das Maçãs” beach, Sintra. The views to the rear are of unspoilt pine woods. The house is very comfortable and private and it is perfect for relaxed family holidays.

The main entrance to the house is via a small entrance hall. The renovated kitchen is to the left; a functional space, its focal point being the traditional chimney above the stove with its original hand painted tiles.
To the left of the kitchen, after crossing the hall, there is a small single bedroom, only available on request or for large parties.

Next we find the spacious living room. This is an ideal family room with seating for up to 8 people with air conditioning and a working fireplace, perfect for cozy winter nights. The room has a separate dining area that opens outside onto two different terraces; one of the terraces is totally fenced and therefore perfect for children to play while the rest of the family enjoys a relaxed meal.
Just a few steps from the living room you will find 3 bedrooms, all sharing a wide closet in the corridor with plenty of storage space, divided for each bedroom. The bedrooms all have double beds. Two of the bedrooms share a shower room and the third one has its own en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet, and pleasant poolside views. All bedrooms boast beautiful garden views, air conditioning and heating.
From the house there is direct access to the pretty private swimming pool. This is a lovely area with an original stone table and garden chairs where guests can sit down and relax sunbathing.

Outside there is a completely renovated annex, only available to bookings of more than 7 people or on request, providing sleeping quarters to 2 more people. The annex has 1 twin bedroom, its own kitchenette, a shower room and a living room, with pleasant garden views.

Near the parking area, there is a laundry room, with a sink and a washing machine. Outside this room, the tiny area boasts a spacious drying rack. This building also features an outdoor shower and an internal shower room.

At the back of the house we find the lawned garden, sprinkled with lavender and rosemary bushes. This is an ideal spot for children’s games or simply to relax and read a book. The private fenced 3000m2 wooded gardens of Casal Tiroliro provide hours of fun to children. The garden is surrounded by low level lighting which provide an even more atmospheric feeling to the property.

Location
Located by renowned “Praia Grande” beach, the house affords total privacy, and is set in a peaceful pine wood. The area is part of the Sintra-Cascais National Park, where building is restricted and nature protected, with countryside stretching in all directions.

The beach is 20 minutes by foot or 2 minutes by car (1,5km). Praia Grande beach is among the most sought after beaches in the greater Lisbon area. Exclusive summer residences hide within the landscape, contributing to an overall atmosphere of relaxation and understated style.

The local village is 1km away with its shops and restaurants.

Sintra, 10km away, is unique and deserves its status as a world heritage site. First the Moors, then the Portuguese kings who expelled them, built their castles and palaces there. Later ages brought rich foreigners who created villas and palaces with lush gardens and romantic architecture – outdone by king Dom Fernando, whose bizarre palace anticipated mad King Ludwig’s Rhine castles by several years.
The location is ideal for exploring not just Sintra but central Portugal. Lisbon is 40 minutes by car, and Cascais and Estoril are 30 minutes away. Famous Ericeira beach is close by. Further afield: in easy day trips from Sintra, you can visit the walled city of Óbidos, the Knights’ Templar castle of Tomar, and Batalha Abbey, the monastery palace of Mafra, the seaside town of Sesimbra, Ericeira, Palmela castle and Arrabida national park.

Gastronomy and wine tasting
Sintra is famed for its ‘queijadas’ and local wines from Colares. Local restaurants are both good and serve alfresco meals. Wineries can be visited in person or as part of an organised tour.

Getting there and around

Praia das Maças village is 1km away with its shops and restaurants. The village is known for the beach of the same name – Praia das Maçãs (Apple beach) – and for the huge pools besides the beach equipped with slides, diving boards and a kid’s pool.

Sintra is an easy 20min ride away through Avenida do Atlântico which converges to the scenic nacional road leading right to Sintra.
The nearest bus stop is 650 meters away. This bus leads either to Sintra or to Azenhas do Mar.
We recommend a car to make the most of exploring the area.

Prices are quoted for up to 6 people. Add €100/week per additional person. Maximum 9 people.
During peak season: normal turnover day is Saturday and surcharge may apply for rentals of less than 2 weeks.
Booking conditions: 20% minimum paid at time of booking and balance 2 months before arrival.
Security Deposit: €300, refundable at end of stay. Final cleaning up to €100
Prices do not include Tourist Tax charged by Sintra Municipality.
