Villa Cipreste – Surface area : 550 m2
Villa Cipreste is a luxury boutique villa located 10 km from the resort town of Sesimbra. An excellent choice for nature lovers, set in the countryside by the sea and impressive cliffs, the villa boasts elegant fittings and magnificient views throughout.
The large villa was recently acquired by the owners of Casa do Lago, a rather popular property. As former holiday residence to the Swiss ambassadors, the villa was built to the highest standards. The house was completely renovated in spring 2011 by its new owners: an internationally renowned Portuguese artist and an awarded architect, and a brand new swimming pool was built within the spacious gardens.
The elegant villa has been cleverly refurbished with flair, and is a true source of inspiration for people looking for a stylish “home away from home”. The house is decorated with many “art-deco” rare pieces and other fine art elements, some of which are for sale.
On the ground floor, there is a spacious living area with seating for 12, and direct access to the outside patio and the swimming pool, boasting magnificient sea and nature views. The dining area, living room and kitchen harmoniously flow from each other. The brand new open plan kitchen is fully equipped and has a clean and modern feel. Light pours into the rooms from the large windows and all-glass doors. Thanks to the unique flair of the new owners, each piece of furniture has been carefully chosen to exceed your highest expectations.
To the left of the living room, at the beginning of a corridor, there is a guest toilet room. Further along the corridor there are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms: one large en-suite double bedroom with art déco pieces and a modern en-suite bathroom; and two twin bedrooms which can become double bedrooms, sharing a shower room with bidet. All bedrooms have plenty of storage space, green and sea views and a desk with seating area.
On the upper floor, there is a spacious living room with seating for +10, which makes the most from the magical light of the area, and has direct access to a large terrace with magnificient panoramic views towards the sunset and the sea. There is also a dining table, the ideal place for “al fresco” meals. There is also a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast area on this floor.
There are three large luxury twin bedrooms, and a fourth bedroom with 2 bunk beds (the children’s bedroom) on this floor. Each bedroom has got its own bathroom. From every bedroom, expect either or both sea or garden views.
Outside, there are 14ha of private gardens and woods to explore, nearly all the way down to the Ocean. Next to the villa and carved into the landscape, is the beautiful 73,5m private pool, boasting magnificient views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Tagus Estuary, with the Estoril Coast and the Sintra Mountain Range in the distant background.
During low season, Villa Cipreste can be divided into two separate units, Villa Cipreste Mar and Villa Cipreste Alto, upon request. The gardens and the swimming pool are shared between the two houses.
The villa is about 500m from Casa do Lago, and so parties of up to 40 people can be accommodated close in great style!

Location
This stylish boutique estate nests harmoniously in the background of hip Praia do Meco beach, overlooking the Tagus estuary from the South Bank. On clear sky days, you can easily see as far as the Estoril Coast and the Sintra Mountain Range on the North Bank.
The property is located near the Natural Park of Arrábida, a paradise of Mediterranean vegetation near the Atlantic Ocean. With pleasant weather all year round, this is a well known region for nature lovers and peaceful holidays. The unique microclimate, which incites the coexistence of diverse and rare species of flora and fauna, allows one to fully enjoy nature.
History and the passing of time have left a remarkable trail of Medieval castles, Renaissance palaces, splendid manors, churches, chapels, convents and sanctuaries that allow a meeting with the past. The castles of Sesimbra, Palmela and Setúbal were, in the Middle Ages, part of the defensive line for the Setúbal peninsula; these monumental fortresses are worthy of a visit. Isolated in the middle of Cape Espichel, rises the awe-inspiring pilgrimage sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Cabo built in the 17th century and classified as a national heritage site.
Beaches
“Praia da Foz”, 2 km away, is a fine sand beach; it is a beautiful unspoilt beach surrounded by cliffs, prolonged by a vast rocky platform used by fishermen. Praia da Foz is a pleasant 40 minute walk or 5 minutes by car.
Further along, you can find the beach “Praia das Bicas”, popular for surfing.
To the north you’ll discover the largest and main beach, “Praia do Meco”, with three miles of white sand and beautiful cliffs. This is the most uninhibited and naturist beach in Portugal. Praia do Meco is so long that if you walk long enough you will always find an uncrowded spot. Relax in a bar on wooden decking and enjoy the sunset whilst looking at the fishermen in their traditional coloured boats on beaches further afield or simply enjoy the magnificent spectacle of everchanging scenery.
At the base of the Arrábida mountains you can find various beaches with crystal water and a backdrop of green hills. Most of these are small coves with fine white sand, tranquil waters and a unique microclimate.
Watersports
Surfing is popular at nearby “Praia das Bicas”. For diving, Portinho de Arrábida beach has some of the most interesting diving in Portugal with its grottos and abundant marine life. Sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and rowing can all be enjoyed in the safe bay.
Gastronomy and wine tasting
In a country that has such an extensive coastline, it is not surprising that the sea should be one of the main sources of its cuisine. In the many restaurants at Meco, Sesimbra or Setúbal, you can find all types of fresh and delicious grilled fish and also the best shellfish, such as clams, mussels or shrimps. Portugal’s climate and soil, its excellent varieties of traditional grapes and the wisdom and accumulated experience of its viniculturists have all helped to make Portuguese wines amongst the most appreciated in the world. The region of Setúbal, which has given its name to a sweet fortified wine, made from the muscadet grape, also produces robust reds and light white wines.
Arrábida National Park
The mountains are ideal for walks, and organized excursions can be arranged with the local nature tour companies. In the National Park, mountain biking, fauna tours, and bird watching are organised. Orienteering, cycling tours, riding and aerial sports are available and provide new experiences for beginners and experienced alike.
Golf Information
Portugal is a paradise where the golfer can play almost every day of the year. Quinta do Peru Golf and Aroeira Clube de Campo are a short drive away and other courses are nearby.
Getting there and around
Two hours flight from most European cities and 7 hours from New York, the Villa is reached by car from Lisbon Airport in 1 hour. Faro airport is 2.5 hours.
Apart from Lisbon, 40km away, Azeitão, Arrábida, Alcácer do Sal, Setúbal, Palmela and Sesimbra are easily reached, making the self-catering villa an ideal base for unforgettable daily excursions.
A car is essential for this holiday as there is no public transport.

A very spacious villa located on two levels. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to choose from! Housekeeping service was excellent as was our welcome on arrival. everything was perfect form the house to the situation, the view on the ocean and the great welcome of the team on site - everybody enjoyed very much the place well situated over the ocean and not too far form Lisbon to visit the city - Bravo and thank you for your hospitality Thank you – everything was perfect. We enjoyed our stay in Portugal a lot! First my compliments to Pippa and her associates. Pippa was most pleasant to work with in arranging our rental. (We live in the USA.) Fuimos tres familias con niños y disfrutamos de la casa Gracias por tu feedback y visita Vanesa! Un saludo cordial
Plenty of room outdoors with two patio areas, a veranda/decking area and a barbeque. The pool was well maintained and clean and gives splendid views over the Atlantic Ocean. The sunsets each evening are spectacular.
Minimarket, and supermarkets a short drive away offering very good local produce. Less than an hour drive from Lisbon and Setubal and Sesimbra nearby. Very good location, away from the hustle and bustle of the Algarve. Would recommend to large families/groups wanting to get away from it all and experience a slice of Portuguese lifestyle and hospitality!
Best

Thank you for your professionalism and responsiveness.
Our stay at the villa was a family gathering of 16 people: 9 adults and 7 grandchildren. The view from the villa is quite beautiful of the country side and the Atlantic Ocean. The property was fine and the villa keeper was quite responsive to our needs. All enjoyed the pool and view.
Sleeping accommodations were fine with the exception of the one very small room for the 4 boys. Bunkbeds with the top beds close to the ceiling. Mosquitoes bit the boys on top bunks that all 4 boys moved out of the room and sleep either on the floor in their parents room or the couches on the bottom floor. Recommend that this room be for two or not a sleeping room. Door to the room was a swinging door.
Owner should provide mosquito spray or cream as a courtesy to renters.
con mucho espacio y la piscina ideal
los dueños muy agradables mimaron y cuidaron nuestra estancia
