Located 50 kms from the centre of Lisbon, the holiday estate is set in the beautiful rural environment of Pontevel, Cartaxo Municipality, surrounded by scenic landscapes and vineyards. Apart from Lisbon, guests can visit within a short drive the Wine Museum at Cartaxo, the roman town of Santarém or the beautiful beaches at Santa Cruz and Ericeira.

Set in a massive 23000 square metre fully fenced plot, the holiday estate affords absolute privacy to its guests. From the imposing entrance gate, guests are led to the villa via a pleasant path, flanked by a beautiful orchard, where many varieties of fruits and vegetables flourish, welcoming guests to taste their freshness.
The entrance hall of the villa opens onto a winter garden, coloring the living areas with a tropical feel. The central block of the villa is a +100 square metre open plan area, connecting the living room, the dining room and the kitchen. Within the living room, the built-in fireplace provides a warm welcome, and the flat screen TV set with cable adds entertainment. The dining table sits easily large parties and the kitchen is fully equipped. The open plan design of the social areas is perfect for a holiday with family and friends, fostering interaction and gathering people. Throughout this central block, large all glass doors connect to the garden, and add a fresh summer and holiday feel to your stay.

The two wings of the villa are accessed via the living areas. On the right wing, guests will find two bedrooms with large double beds, both boasting pleasant poolside views. On the other side of the corridor, two more bedrooms, each fitted with two single beds, offer peaceful countryside views. Two full bathrooms are located on this wing.

Accessed via the left wing of the house and located on the first floor of the house, the vast games room guarantees hours of fun, offering a variety of games to guests: from snooker to table tennis and cards, overlooking the poolside and the rural environment. This massive room can also be used as an additional sleeping area, with the added comfort of an additional toilet room.

Outside, the perfect setting to enjoy the unique Portuguese weather is by the two private swimming pools. There is one 10*5 metre pool for adults, and a smaller one for children, with a 2,4 metre diametre. Surrounding the pool, a vast 700 square metre lawn area sets up the perfect tanning lounge, fitted with deckchairs and parasols.

Facing the pool, a large porch shelters the outdoor dining area, fitted with a preparation area with counters, a barbecue, a traditional wood oven and a massive outdoor dining table for 16. Next to it, an additional lounging area, fitted with sofas and four hammocks and decorated with two mid 19th century forged iron and wood benches, provides the perfect spot to enjoy an evening cap. For added entertainment, a foosball table will warm up the ambiance with endless derbies.

Location
The Vineyard Villa is located in the tranquil village of Pontevel, only 50 kilometres outside the busy Lisbon centre, within the Ribatejo Region (meaning “on the banks of the River Tagus”). The landscape is defined by miles and miles of vineyards, and the region is renown for the quality and reliability of its centennial wines. Nearby, the historic towns of Cartaxo and mainly Santarém, are important cultural centres, and their many monuments are definitely worth a visit.

Nearby Nazaré and Peniche are popular resort towns in western Portugal, with thousands of visitors during hot summer months. Surfing is a popular activity, since both Peniche and Nazaré boast excellent breaks both for everyday surfers and for big riders, such as the infamous Praia do Norte beach, where hawaiian pro Garrett McNamara tow-surfed the world’s largest wave in late 2011. The main break at Peniche is the regular World Tour venue at Supertubos (nicknamed the European Pipeline), an impressive and consistent sand bar located South of the Peninsula, generating some of the hollowest barrels in Europe. Other attractions in Nazaré include a large water park, a marina and a long promenade with plenty of restaurants and hip bars. A centennial lift from the 1800’s, designed by Mesnier du Ponsard, successful disciple of Gustave Eiffel, carries people up to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Nazaré, with magnificent panoramic views over the Atlantic Ocean and the town.

Beaches
A 40 minute drive from the villa you will find an extensive coastline with plenty to explore from Ericeira to Nazaré. From unique surfbreaks in Peniche, Baleal and Nazaré to beautiful quiet bays at São Martinho do Porto and Foz do Arelho there is plenty for all to enjoy.

Birdwatching
The extensive riverbanks of the Tagus in this region have created a unique microclimate and ecosystem, in which hundreds of differents bird species have decided to settle or pass by. The area is commonly known as “Lezíria” (no translation is known), and is a popular birdwatching destination in Europe.

Golf Details
Portugal is a paradise where the golfer can play almost every day of the year. Every course offers new and surprising landscapes, backed up by excellent services and facilities.

The nearest golf course is the very special Golden Eagle Country Club, located near Rio Maior 20 kilometres away. There are several other options within a 30-40 minute drive: Santo Estêvão and Ribagolfe 1 and 2 on the South bank of the Tagus River, Praia d’el Rey, Bom Sucesso and Royal Obidos towards Peniche to the West, and more.

Getting there and around
Less than two hours flight from most European cities and seven hours from New York, the villa is reached by car from Lisbon in under an hour.

A car is necessary for this holiday as there is no public transport to the villa.

Prices are quoted for up to 8 people. Add €100 per week per additional guest. Maximum 15 people.
During peak season: normal turnover day is Saturday and surcharge may apply for rentals of less than 2 weeks.
Booking conditions: 20% minimum paid at time of booking, further 40% two months before arrival, balance in cash on arrival.
Security Deposit: € 300 (paid in advance), refundable up to 48h after the end of stay.
