Comporta Holiday Villa – Surface area : 330 m2

Imposingly set within an 8 hectare pine and cork oak forest, the Comporta Holiday Villa is a perfect retreat in Southwest Portugal, within one of the most summer grounds in Europe: Comporta. The villa is located in Muda Village in Comporta, a popular summer destination among the european jet-set. Just 80 km South of Lisbon, Comporta is blessed with endless sandy beaches to the West and the unique setting of the protected Sado Estuary (with its dolphins and the Arrabida Mountain Range National Park) to the East and the North.

Although modern and hip, the clean and discreet architectural design of the single floor villa blends with the forest with grace. The interiors are mostly made from high quality materials such as black slate, which cleverly highlights the furniture and its colours throughout. Its modern architecture is highlighted with tall ceilings and extra large all-glass walls so you can enjoy a great view from every angle.

The main entrance hall is accessed close to the parking area. The living areas are vast and boast plesant green views and the two indoor patios add daylight to the interiors, adding up to the holiday feeling. All-glass doors open both from the living and the dining rooms, creating two different terraces by the pool. An extension of the massive swimming pool separates the two areas. In order to ensure entertainment for both adults and children, there are two living rooms, each fully fitted with cable TV with international channels and a DVD player. The children’s lounging room can double up as an additional sleeping area for two more people. During winter, the interior is warm and welcoming thanks to the sophisticated fireplace; in summer time, there is air conditioning in most rooms to make sure it is never too warm. The dining room connects to the outdoor dining terrace, and each seats up to 12 people.

The sleeping quarters of the villa are as impressive as the living areas. Boasting generous areas, each of the five bedrooms has two single beds and its own en-suite bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have an additional pull-out bed, of the same size as the other beds and one of the bedroom is next to the kitchen.

Outside, the masterpiece of the holiday villa is a massive 100 square metre private swimming pool. The floor of the pool is covered with black tiles, which keeps the water warmer.

The airy and fully equipped kitchen has a modern design and is very functional with a breakfast area, from which you can access the outdoor patios.

The villa has its own spacious drive for private parking.

Comporta Holiday Villa is a Modern villa to let on a short term basis located at the Muda Village, one of the most exclusive areas of the highly selective summer destination of Comporta. 80 km South of Lisbon, Comporta is the longest sandy beach in Europe (stretching over 60km). Comfortably protected from the northern winds by the beautiful Arrabida Mountain Range across the Sado Estuary, the area is still untouched by real estate boom, which makes Comporta one of the coolest and most desired holiday locations in Europe. The Casiraghi royal family from Monaco, the King of Jordan or the French president’s family of Nicolas Sarkozy are regular visitors of Comporta’s beaches.

Comporta is also very popular among artists and trendsetters alike – those who come here (Christian Louboutin and the Casiraghi family amongst them), are attracted by its understated stylish atmosphere and fantastic weather.

Troia resort, with its golf course, casino, beautiful beaches, restaurants and night clubs is a short 15 minutes drive to the North. Across from the beautiful peninsula, Setubal and the Arrabida National Park are within easy reach via a ferry boat across the Sado Estuary, from which you can ocasionally spot dolphins and flamingos.
Comporta is surrounded by historic towns, which have been moulded across centuries, first by the phoenicians, then the Romans, then the Moors and later from the 13th by the Catholic Reconquista, each leaving an important print on the landscape. There are traces of forts and settlements from as early as the 6th century BC. The area became quite important in the Roman times due to the culture of salt, and there are roman ruins and monuments splattered from Troia in the North to Santiago do Cacém in the South, which are worth a visit. Just to the south is the town of Sines, which is known for its geographically important port. It has a beautiful well preserved small Castle overlooking the narrow streets of the pleasent old centre. It has several small beautiful sandy beaches usually with great panoramic views of the west coast. Also to the south is Santiago do Cacém, a lovely town full of character which should also be visited. To the north is Setúbal, known for its fantastic fresh fish.

And of course 80 km away is Lisbon, an easy day trip, an hour’s drive along the motorway.

For lovers of nature, there are observation posts and tours in the nearby Sado Estuary, to watch the many animals about, such as flamingos and dolphins.

Praia do Pego

Praia do Pego is 8km away from the house and offers all the amenities expected of a high quality beach. It won the prize of “best beach facilities” in Portugal. The “Restaurante Sal”, is a restaurant literally on the sand and won several awards for its refined cuisine.

Comporta beach is situated in the limits of the wonderful Sado Estuary Nature Reserve, which allows the region to preserve all its astonishing natural beauty. Comporta combines the charm of its dunes, the extensive pine tree area and the refreshing ocean.
With a quite extensive sandy area, the beach provides good conditions for surfing and kite surfing alike. Comporta beach is the longest sandy beach in the whole of Europe. It has well deserved fame. Parking facilites are good, and being so large it is never too crowded. As well as this the beach offers good amenities.
There are other sandy beaches nearby.

Water sports
Sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and rowing can all be practiced in the safe bay of the Sado estuary, and as previously mentioned surfing and kite surfing are practiced at Comporta beach.

Social Events
From June to September local hip beach clubs host regularly trendy night beach parties with international DJs. The special “hippie-chic” atmosphere is both casual and refined.

Gastronomy and wine tasting
The region is famed for its gastronomy, with its fresh grilled fish being an inexpensive delight. Five formal wine routes have been devised in the Setubal peninsula by the ‘Rota de Vinhos’ association, combining wine tasting with sightseeing, arts and nature.
Excellent fresh fish and seafood restaurants are easy to find and inexpensive.

Troia Golf

The unique Troia Championship golf course is 30 km away (25 minute drive), and scheduled for opening in late 2012 is the brand new Hyatt Herdade do Pinheirinho Golf Course, a stunning championship course located 12 km South of Villa Comporta (15 minute drive).

Getting there and around
2 hours flight from most European cities and 7 hours from New York, the Villa is reached by car from Lisbon airport in under 1h30. Faro airport is less than 2 hours away.
A car is recommended to fully enjoy the many delights of the area.
There are small supermarkets and shops selling fresh products whitin walking distance. For bigger shopping trips, the town of Grândola is 15 km away.
On the fertile laguna standing opposite the house, small biological produce can be chosen and bought for the freshest meals!
